Abstract :
An electrostatically actuated nanomechanical resonator is used as an on-chip phase shifter for telecom wavelength light. Due to the strong interaction between the driving electrodes and the mechanical degrees of freedom an unprecedented strong electrostatic spring effect is observed. Using real-time parametric feedback the thermal motion of the resonator is squeezed, even below the 3dB limit.
