Abstract :
A new method for measuring the sheet metal bending angle of the crane boom is presented in this paper, which is based on the image processing technology. First of all, the image of the bending process is captured by a digital CCD camera. Then, the straight lines of the bending sheet metal are obtained by edge detection and Hough Transform algorithm. Finally, for the bending sheet metal, the angle between its two sides is computed. Examples of line extraction and angle calculation using the proposed method are given in the paper. The measuring accuracy and noise rejection capability, as well as efficiency, is verified by the experimental results.
