Abstract :
Because of the limitation caused by the number of visible BDS (BeiDou Navigation Satellite System) / GPS (Global Position System) satellites, the application of BDS/GPS on the spacecraft is different from the ground user. In this paper, the coverage performance model of BDS/GPS is established by taking the radiation angle of transmitting antenna, the elevation of receiver and the received signal strength into account. The simulation results reveal that BDS/GPS integrated navigation system is superior to BDS or GPS single system in all respects of coverage performance, especially in high earth orbit area. Consequently, adopting the BDS/GPS integrated navigation system in high earth orbit spacecraft´s autonomous navigation that will be able to expand the field of space applications based on GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) significantly. In addition, the simulation conclusions have special reference value for the spacecraft´s orbit design and application.
