  • Abstract
RWIS (Road Weather Information System) data is integral to assisting transportation agencies in making critical maintenance decisions. In China, road weather sensors are occupied by foreign products, especially pavement sensors. Standardized testing methodologies for pavement sensors are limited, because of the lack of a large number of meteorological data. By reviewing previous research regarding to evaluation and testing procedures of RWIS pavement sensors in the market of our country, investigating the precision requirement of pavement sensors in traffic administrative departments, the function index, application method and installation requirements of pavement sensors are analyzed. The measurements, measuring range and accuracy of measurement of various different sensors in the pavement sensors are studied. Preliminary exploration of the standard procedures for testing pavement sensors is proposed. Testing environment of pavement sensors is set up in the laboratory, testing methodologies of the pavement sensors are deeply found out. The research on testing methodologies for pavement sensors can fulfill the domestic pavement sensor testing and calibration technology.
