We, the Comnetsat 2013 committee are very proud to welcome you all. Please enjoy your stay at this kingdom city of more than 400 year old. Yogyakarta is located in the middle of the Java island surrounded by not only the artifacts in the old days such as temples, but also volcanoes, and the large Indian sea. During the full-moon, at Prambanan Hindu temple courtyard there is always a show of colossal Ramayana episodes. The Buddhist pilgrimages are coming at least once a year to the Borobudur temple, the biggest one in the southern hemisphere. Last year or so, the world festival of gamelan music has been held in the city. This ensemble of music consists normally up to 30 players including at least 15 artists playing the percussion instruments having a pentatonic system of sounds, has been emerging as the new age of musical arts. Along with it, Javanese dances are always intimately connected with the gamelan. Those arts are living in the city, and especially in the palace of the sultan, the heart of the kingdom.
