Abstract :
In the 21st century, rightly termed as the century of information, the quest for the technology which provides efficient, secured and rapid means for data sharing has intensified and that was the main purpose for conducting this study .With the introduction of wireless technology in the late 20th century, the idea of networking was redefined as it gave rise to “remote data access” which has completely changed the concept of data sharing. The capacity of the network to offer guaranteed Quality of Service(QoS) is hindered by the limited bandwidth availability, higher packet error rate, higher packet overheads, interference crosstalk provided in the medium. The design constraints at several layers of the IEEE 802.11 and IEEE 802.15 restrict its capacity to deliver guaranteed Quality of Service. In response to the increasing Quality of Service challenge in wireless networks, researchers have made significant modifications in Wireless Fidelity (Wi-Fi) in the legacy IEEE 802.11 standards to enhance the Quality of Service. Experimental results show that Wi-Fi can share data over larger range, with higher speed but for short distance communication Bluetooth can be used as it provides better data security and it consumes less power.
