Abstract :
A novel quenching-and-reset circuit for single-photon avalanche diodes is presented in this paper. The circuit has been fabricated in a standard 0.6-μm CMOS technology and can operate with detectors biased up to 5V above breakdown. The circuit functionality has been verified by experimental measurements, showing a programmable hold-off time from 50ns for reducing the afterpulsing effect.
