Abstract :
Based on neighbouring nucleotides, a method of characterizing DNA sequences is introduced. It uses a simple characteristic vector to represent the biological information of the sequence. We associate each sequence with the vector describing the frequencies of nucleotide k-word in its complete DNA sequences where k is the word´s length, and thus obtain a multiple dimension feature vector. The introduced vector is applied for genetic sequences comparison and phylogenetic analysis. In the end, we choose many sequences from 20 Eutherian species and 24 coronavirus as the dataset to analyse their similarities. The results demonstrate that this method is efficient and suitable for evolutionary analysis of DNA sequences.
