Does design management curricula meet current global and local practice in the UAE?

This paper discusses whether design management curricula in United Arab Emirates meet current global and local practice. Hence, it was explored widely the status of design management education and practice in developed and developing nations in order to understand different perspectives and trends on its use. Then, it was examined the design management offering of universities, academies and schools from UAE. Using secondary research was relevant to collect data from websites, academic literature, interviews and case studies to outline the evolvement of design management in global and local economies. Once data collection was analyzed using descriptive diagrams, it was possible to posit design management in the contemporary organization and its effects on the economy, technology and society, and consequently on the educational curricula. A discussion was necessary to offer suggestions about the design management curricula in UAE. It was also relevant to document subsequent steps to undertake future research.
