Abstract :
Routing Protocols play an important role in the performance of client wireless mesh networks. This paper simulates some of these protocols for multimedia applications. Various scenarios for studying the effect of network scalability were conducted. Furthermore the performance of theses protocols with fixed or moving nodes was also studied. The results showed that AODV protocol throughput performance is the best when the network nodes increased both for fixed or moving scenarios. OLSR, TORA, and GRP were the favorite protocols in terms of WLAN delay leaving AODV and DSR as the worst in this statistic. The results of this paper suggest the use of AODV routing protocol in large client mesh wireless network for the video streaming application in which high throughput is required and WLAN delay is tolerated; while OLSR, TORA, and GRP are the preferred protocols for VoIP applications.
