Abstract :
This research deals with the real time solid waste bin monitoring system by integrating different sensing and communication technologies. The system is divided into three segments and based on Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). The first segment consists of bins with sensor node installed in it, the second segment contains the gateways and the third segment is the base station. The sensor nodes can measure and transmit the waste conditions such as waste level, weight, temperature and humidity inside the bin in every access of the bin. The gateways can receive and forward the bin data to the base station. The base station stores the bin data and facilitates the opportunities to use the data for management purpose. The developed system is capable to response and update the specific bin status in real time which in turn can help to minimize collection route and fuel cost to make the environment clean and healthy.
