  • Abstract
This paper concerns the application of modern computational control tools in a special class of power electronic circuits, namely switch-mode dc-dc converters. Specifically, we aim at developing a disturbance estimation scheme that can be used in addition to recently developed explicit MPC control schemes in order to achieve offset-free output voltage reference tracking in the presence of unknown output load variations. The method presented uses a Moving Horizon Estimation scheme for the disturbance estimation and the underlying optimization problem is solved using multi-parametric programming for the whole range of values of the measurement vector, resulting in an explicitly defined piecewise affine estimation function. Simulation results provide a comparative assessment in terms of performance and implementation complexity of the solutions derived for different lengths of the moving estimation horizon as opposed to a steady state Kalman filter.
