  • Abstract
    In satellite communication frequency band, rain attenuation effects on Ku band are serious, therefore, in need of rain attenuation estimation to set the system margin to ensure the communication quality. Rain attenuation principle is briefly described, the forecasting model and algorithm procedure of rain attenuation is introduced, which recommend by International Telecommunication Union (ITU). Two ways, curve-fitting algorithm and engineering estimation algorithm are used to calculate the rainfall loss rate, through the simulation comparison and analysis, the accuracy of engineering estimation algorithm is demonstrated In the Ku band. The usage suggestions of the two algorithms are given. Finally, the paper is summarized and some anti-rain attenuation measures are given.
