Abstract
Experimental results are presented on the application of a cascade control structure to a distributed collector solar field. Both loops of the cascade use MUSMAR. a predictive adaptive control algorithm. The difference in the dominant time constants of the inner (faster) and outer (slower) control loops is explored by employing different sampling rates in each of them. An analysis is presented characterising the possible convergence points of the controllers and relating them to steady-state LQ stochastic control.
