Abstract :
The identification of unstable systems with time delay is first addressed. Two limit points of conditional stability are characterized using a relay and a novel nonlinear function. Algorithms are developed to calculate the information based on excited stable limit cycles. A cascade PID control structure is then proposed to stabilize the system and achieve desirable performance.
