Abstract :
In this paper, we highlight a connection between consensus building and Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) decoding. This connection serves as the foundation for estimating the convergence time for LDPC decoding and for designing good LDPC codes. Preliminary results are presented to demonstrate the significance of this key relationship in estimating the convergence time for the decoder, and in identifying short cycles that may slow down the process of convergence.
