Abstract :
This paper investigates a method for computation of proportional-integral-derivative (PID) like fuzzy controller scaling factors using set point weighing. Scaling factor selection in fuzzy controller is generally performed using trial and error method. Set point weighing method is used to improve the transient response of the process in PID controllers. In proposed method fuzzy PID controller structure is modified by using set point weighing factor and used to derive the scaling factors of the fuzzy controller using tuning parameters of PID controller. The scaling factors obtained are tested for different class of plants and the results are compared with the existing methods. Error indices Integral of square error (IAE), Integral of absolute error (IAE), and Integral of time absolute error (ITAE) are used as performance measures to check the controller performance. The robustness of the proposed is demonstrated by applying disturbance and noise input.
