Abstract
This paper proposes a new nonlinear sliding mode controller for induction motors. The controller assumes that only the motor speed and stator currents are measured and seeks to provide asymptotic tracking of speed and flux. The control law incorporates a sliding mode observer and uses backstepping ideas to synthesis the nonlinear controller sliding surfaces. Good simulation results have been obtained.
