Abstract
The chain of power plants at the Austrian Drau is a part of the Verbund system, the largest producer of electricity in Austria. Verbund produces (with its participations) about 25.000 GWh/a, that is app. 50% of Austria´s public power supply. The flexible storage and pondage power plants within the Verbund have a very special position, because the Verbund is responsible for the load balance in Austria.
