Abstract :
Case based reasoning (CBR) is one of the best methodologies for various problems solving and learning processes. Knowledge Management and CBR has been a major contributor to several medical diagnostic support systems. Case-based reasoning is a prominent kind of analogy making that is analogous to the process of human reasoning and natural problem solving. With the increasing number of AIDS patients, greater awareness needs to be spread among people around the globe to help them how to take care of themselves. This paper proposes an Ontology supported CBR system, (Health Services Support System) for cognitive diagnosis applied on HIV/AIDS detection which shall aid a doctor/medical practitioner to primarily detect AIDS in case of a patient reporting to him with allied sufferings and symptoms. In this project, the assessment of AIDS precarious behavior is focused and important preliminary scan is done by the medical officer. The project focuses a case-based system that uses past experience in the form of previous cases to assess AIDS-dangerous symptoms. A case consists of problem part (query) and a solution part (result) which is stored in the database. KNN is used to retrieve previous cases and determine the best matching case with similarity functions which are analyzed and stored in the case base. Through the HESS, medical officer can perform a quick assessment of patients to go for further related testing and treatment. This model can also be used for diagnosis of several diseases and medical disorders. In future, the HESS may be employed on a distributed environment with provision to access real time case updates.
