Abstract
Reliability is the probability of success of a system within the mission time. There is a requirement of applying Reliability to a computer system. Software, hardware, and procedure reliability modeling and prediction have gained significant attention by the researchers over the past decades, a lot of research has been done towards hardware reliability, but relatively less research has been dedicated to studying the contribution of the human element of reliability engineering. This paper surveys what are the major keys for understanding software reliability, factors affecting software reliability, how we can design reliability in software and what are the best data collection techniques for reliability estimation. Research scholars will be benefited from this paper to understand reliability concept.
