Abstract
In this paper, a proposal to calculate the impedance frequency response of a power distribution network (PDN) is presented. Using the proposed algorithm, power planes have been modeled as an array of regular rectangles or squares constructing blocks like lego type which have been defined in terms of analytical equations given by the pi model. Transition via models has been obtained by using an approach based on Foldy-Lax equations. All these analytical models have been validated versus a commercial tool: PowerSI from Sigrity. A simple plane and a multilayered plane structure cases have been validated. Results showed less than 10% errors at peak resonance frequency. Accurate prediction of the PDN impedance profile has been demonstrated.
