Abstract
The characteristics of operating as an output voltage source of contactless power transfer (CPT) system have been widely researched. However, the operation as an output current source is more desirable for applications such as battery charging. This paper proposes a novel parallel-series/series (PS/S) compensation topology to achieve good output current controllability. The characterization of the input-to-output current gain and input impedance of the proposed PS/S compensated converter is performed in this paper. Two 60 W prototype converters, one with the PS/S compensation and the other with an S/S compensation are built to verify the correctness of the theoretical analysis and the effectiveness of the proposed compensation method.
