Abstract
Targeted drug delivery is an efficient technique to optimize the deliver drug molecules to specific tissues in a human body using magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) as carriers. By combining an electromagnetic actuation (EMA) and a magnetic particle imaging (MPI) systems [1], we can provide a new system, called the Hybrid Action and Imaging System (HAIS). This paper focuses on hardware implementation and simulation of the 1D HAIS which is studied in our previous work [2]. The challenges in this research are the device fabrication and the 1D HAIS experiments. Moreover, the COMSOL Multiphysics software is used for modeling and simulation of the proposed system. The simulation results will be compared with the experimental results. The proposed control system with one axis can be easily extended to 3D for providing simultaneous navigation and tracking of magnetic nanoparticles in compact and efficient ways.
