Abstract :
It is well known that the underwater channel is a hostile environment for data transmission. In this work we compute the link budget for a passive sonar link for a targeted specification and subsequently present a simulation study of the performance of two digital modulation techniques, (BPSK and BFSK) over an underwater acoustic channel. A BER performance comparison on the two modulation schemes concludes the paper.
