Abstract :
The largest drawbacks for the development of solar energy are the intermittency and variable quality of energy supply. Hydrogen offers a promising alternative for energy storage in long-term renewable energy systems. The hydrogen can be stored for long periods, and represents an alternative energy carrier, helping to overcome all the problems related to the intermittent nature of solar energy. In a previous study, the effect of tilt angle on electrical amount of energy produced by a photovoltaic system has been proven. In this study, the effect of tilt angle on a system producing renewable hydrogen has been studied. The effect of tilt angle on received, produced energy, and produced amount of hydrogen is examined in order to find its influence on system efficiency. Two cities Algiers and Ghardaïa were studied. Using Latitude as angle of inclination to maximize the produced amount of hydrogen over the year gives 0.3 % to 0.7% losses, and 2 % loss on minimum monthly average daily produced amount of hydrogen.
