Abstract
The development of Renewable Energy (RE) sources and Energy Efficiency (EE) technologies is a central aim of the world energy policy. Several international programs and investments were developed in order to reduce Greenhouse Gas (GHG). Abatement of GHG emissions can mainly be achieved through utilizing the abundant RE sources and the implementation of EE measures. This paper presents the current status of the Tunisian energy system and the existing policies. An analysis of its strengths weaknesses, opportunities and threats are also discussed which can be considered as an indicator to the decision makers to exploit for investment encouragement.
