Abstract :
UPSs and gensets must not be considered separate devices with no relation but a complete system preventing the installation from suffering uncontrolled blackouts. Electrical issues are of course important, but even more important are the installation conditions that often create the issues and malfunctions encountered on site. They are not acting on the same scale of time, but a good coordination of operating conditions could lead to a significant improvement of system availability.
