Abstract
□ Typical efficiency measures include metrics such as delay, capacity and throughput, and on-time arrivals, but this analysis considers a track-based measure of efficiency □ This analysis first defines and then presents a simple data-driven method for calculating excess distance flown inside of terminal airspace using surveillance data □ This method can be leveraged to examine how arrivals and departures are performing in terms of lateral efficiency at any given time — It could be monitored in the future to assess the impact of future Air Traffic Management (ATM) initiatives.
