Abstract
• Asia Pacific leads the world in air traffic growth. Forecasted to triple traffic volume by 2030 • Without significant improvements in CNS and weather infrastructure, A T M automation capability and operation standards/procedures, the available capacity will not be able to accommodate the demand • Recent tragic events (MH370 and QZ8501, etc.) highlight the urgent needs to speed up the development • Satellite systems serving CNS and weather play significant roles in advancing air traffic safety, efficiency and capacity.
