Abstract :
This paper reviews the dependencies between the node-level architecture, the wavelength selective switches, the multiplexer/demultiplexers, and the transceivers within advanced reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexing networks supporting colorless, directionless and contentionless multiplexing/demultiplexing.
