Abstract
This paper describes the function and operation of lubrication systems for Ball Mill and SAG Mill Drives. Provided within this paper are hydraulic schematics, functional description and a general overview of system layout as well as some of the important features and factors relevant to improving the reliability of this very critical part of the grinding mill drive system. Also discussed are design elements revolving around reliability, including the redundancy systems, bearing flow distribution and fluid life analysis related to particulate contamination. Finally, the underlying focus is to share experience and provide helpful hints to plant operation and maintenance teams.
