Abstract :
The loss recovery techniques ARQ and error correction coding mechanisms have some drawbacks. By combining these proactive and reactive techniques, we can design a hybrid loss recovery technique which will achieve better performance. In this paper, a hybrid loss recovery technique is proposed for multipath routing. The sender initiates encoding process using partial network coding and then forwards the coded data to intermediate nodes for re-encoding. After reprocessing the encoding packets, the intermediate nodes forward those packets to the receiver for decoding operations without the need of all encoded packets. Suppose if the proactive mechanism fails to help all receivers to recover the lost packet reactive mechanism is used that consisting of Automatic Repeat Request (ARQ) protocol, which use, retransmission mechanism for those packets are lost by sending ACK from the receiver to sender. By simulation results, we show that the proposed protocol reduces the packet drop and delay with improved throughput.
