Abstract :
Intelligent and Customizable Units for Education (ICUE) is a triple - hardware, software and document - open platform for engineering student laboratories. Its main features are flexibility and low cost. In its origin is intended for Optical Communications, but it can be adapted to other areas. The platform includes one management unit, several specific modules, and two communication networks: management (Ethernet) and control (ModBus). In this paper we present the system developed in UPM for Optical Communications, which can be considered as a demonstration of its capabilities and future developments.
