Abstract :
A compact monostatic/bistatic UWB radar system has been developed. It uses low cost, off the shelf components, and is ideally suited for wall characterization. Algorithms to estimate the constitutive wall parameters have been successfully implemented with this module. These methods include Time-Domain Reflectometry (TDR), a hybrid of Time-Delay Estimation (TDE) and Reflected Waves Ratio Method (RWR). Wall parameters for different wall types have been measured for various radar standoff distances, as well as in the presence of ground reflection and other multipath scenarios.
