Abstract :
This paper presents a dual-band pattern-reconfigurable Yagi-Uda antenna for use in a wireless network access point. The antenna allows for dual-band operation in the 2450 MHz and 5800 MHz bands with independent radiation pattern reconfiguration in both bands. Five operational cases are presented, with the beam at the two different bands pointing in either the same or opposite directions as well as a case presenting a combination of omnidirectional and lateral directive beams. The unique antenna concept reported is a compact and efficient solution for frequency-band-independent reconfigurable radiation patterns.
