Abstract :
In this study, a filter is proposed in order to remove the salt and pepper noise in images. This filter is named as symmetrical triangular switching fuzzy filter with four directional average value center (TSFDAV). TSFDAV includes the fuzzy set structure whose peak point is four directional average value. TSFDAV is applied to only noisy pixels. Therefore brightness values of uncorrupted pixels don´t change. Salt and pepper noise with different density is added to Lena test image. TSFDAV and filters that are found frequently in the literature are applied to noisy images. The success of TSFDAV is compared with other filters. According to the results of the comparision obtained as visualy and quantitatively, it is stated that proposed filter is more succesful than other filters.
