Abstract :
Moving targets appear smeared in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images. We present quantitative relationships between the positioning errors and the velocities of moving targets in monostatic SAR images. The analysis is valid under arbitrary imaging geometries. Numerical simulations show that the measured positioning errors from reconstructed images agree with the errors predicted by our analysis. Our analysis may be used to estimate target motion parameters and to focus SAR images.
