  • Abstract
The automotive industry in Thailand have competed severely. Its recent competitiveness is indicated by values offered to customers. One of them is flexibility as measured with lead time. To raise the competitiveness of automotive industry along its supply chain, the concept of lean management is incorporated as lean supply chain management (LSCM). One of the most potential LSCM methods is value stream mapping (VSM). It is utilized for mapping the current state of a value stream, and generating the future-state map of an automotive plant. As a case study, the application of VSM is capable of shortening production lead time by 80%. It leads to reduction in total cycle time by 21.3% and increase in value added by 293.33%. In addition, the shorter lead time contributes to lower cost, higher profit, and more competitiveness as the ultimate goal of this paper.
