  • Abstract
Cooperative Spectrum Sensing (CSS) improves the reliability of decisions made about the presence of Primary Users in Cognitive Radio Networks (CRN). However, energy consumption for performing CSS by Secondary Users (SU) is not negligible. Consequently, since SUs should perform CSS periodically, they may encounter rapid drain of their battery lifetimes. In this paper, an energy based sensor selection algorithm for multichannel CRNs is proposed to prevent the fast drain of SUs´ lifetimes. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can considerably improve the lifetime of SUs and network compared to the existing methods.
