Abstract :
We discuss the results of the analysis of a high-speed backbone network traffic dumps. We´ve obtained estimates of the parameters of functions that approximate the distribution of the number of packets transmitted in the main internet channel for the three groups of users. The effect of the aggregation window size on the distribution parameters was analyzed. It was found that one of the parameters of the distribution doesn´t have the property of scale invariance, which allows putting into question the validity of the hypothesis of self-similarity of traffic in the main internet channel.
