Abstract
When Bonnie Schnitta saw a video of the Tacoma Bridge in Washington state collapse due to vibrations caused by wind conditions, she knew she had "heard" her calling. "I remember sitting there watching this and thinking, \´I have no idea what field it is where you would learn why that happened, but one day that\´s what I\´m going to do,\´" she recalls. The field turned out to be acoustical engineering and, as founder and chief executive officer of SoundSense, Schnitta now tackles issues and applications of acoustics every day.
