Abstract
The electroencephalogram (EEG) signals contain important information for the detection of epileptic seizures. The paper presents a novel methodology for classification of focal and non-focal epilepsy by the comparison of corresponding resultant peaks after operations on EEG signals. In this approach, the EEG signal is subjected to empirical mode decomposition (EMD) to obtain intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) which are then operated on individually. The plots, a denouement of energy and correlation calculations on the IMFs, have been used as a characteristic feature for classification. All plots pertaining to the procedure applied to the eighth IMF have been included to show the efficiency of proposed method.
