Abstract
This paper presents improvement in the performance of a thermal system PID controller in the presence of noise using Haar wavelet based denoising. When noise enters in a thermal system it becomes unstable as the performance of the associated PID controller deteriorates. To improve this problem Haar wavelet based denoising is proposed. Multiresolution capability of Haar wavelet minimizes the effect of noise at different scales. Improvement in the performance of thermal system PID controller is achieved using the proposed methodology in terms of better transient response and disturbance rejection due to higher proportional and differential gains. Demonstration is done with the help of simulations.
