Abstract :
Skin biophysical properties can indicate not only skin condition but also the systemic status of the human organism. Understanding the skin´s physiological, chemical and biophysical characteristics will helps to arrange a proper approach to the management of the skin diseases. Also Skin analysis allows people to take control of their skin care. By detecting any possible issues early can reduce the amount of treatments that might be needed and the costs involved. In this study non invasive skin biophysical parameter has been used for comparison of Hydration and Tran epidermal Water Loss (TEWL) in normal, psoriasis, vitiligo affected skin by using the Dermalab® series Skin Lab Combo equipment. The anatomical locations selected for measurements are forehead, volar forearm mid region, Dorsal Hand and Neck in an individual. The study found that baseline TEWL and Hydration depends on anatomical regions. Variation in these parameters are found to great extent in psoriasis as compared to normal and vitiligo affected skin.
