  • Abstract
The authors investigated and characterized different shapes of plastic optical fiber sensors. U-shaped with two different radiuses, coil-shaped and meander-shaped. The sensors were fabricated and measured using a microcontrolled setup. The probes are implemented as refractometry sensors. The small refractive indexes range of 1.33 to 1.39 is used as a reference, produced by different sucrose concentrations. Finally, concentrations of bacterium Escherichia coli in water were detected and the results provided by these sensors are compared.
