  • Abstract
The physical activity measurement and more particularly, that of the movement can be done with many existing and already marketed solutions. All these techniques have important limitations. Thus there is the need to explore innovative approaches. We propose a solution based on the coupling of radio frequency identification (RFID) with a magneto resistive sensor. With this device we can measure variations of the earth´s magnetic field, correlated with those of the human body. By doing post-processing on recorded motion data we show that it is possible to differentiate varied movement intensity. A possible application of the proposed novel device is the monitoring of the physical activity of persons, particularly in actimetry (to rate the activity) or in rehabilitation.
