Abstract
This paper presents optimal magnet shape of the spoke type interior permanent-magnet synchronous motor for using the ferrite magnet. Normally an electric motor used the ferrite magnet has lower output power and efficiency than an electric machine using the rare-earth magnet. Nevertheless, because the price of a ferrite magnet is chipper than a rare-earth magnet, the motor design using a ferrite magnet is cost-effective. In this paper, we propose the high power density design of a permanent-magnet synchronous motor as using ferrite magnet. Especially, the spoke-shaped interior permanent-magnet structure is one of the high power density model for an electric motor despite shortcomings as having difficult magnetization manufacture process. Therefore, in this paper, we present optimal design of the spoke-shaped interior permanent-magnet motor which can perform magnetization easily. The design is evaluated from experiments as magnetizer and demagnetization tests.
