  • Abstract
In this study, the magnetic bearing is of hybrid type, with passive axial magnetic bearings (PMBs) and active radial magnetic bearing (AMBs), as well as Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 is the configuration of the ring-type flywheel battery prototype which is studied in this paper. Other than 5-DOF magnetic bearings, a built-in motor/generator will be installed in middle of the system. In such configuration, hybrid magnetic bearings provide several advantages, such as low energy consumption, good heat dissipation and linear magnetic force.
