Abstract :
Deployment of demand response electricity monitoring systems to manage electricity usage in residential areas is an effective way for energy saving. Current sensor for household two-wire power cords is one of the key components in the system and must be designed with the characteristics of nonintrusive, easy-to-use and reliable. So far, piezoelectric MEMS and inductive coil nonintrusive current sensors have been proposed only for two-wire cables of zip-cord type. These sensors are designed to sense the magnetic field in the central line of the zip-cord, so they require complex alignment processes and can´t detect current nonintrusively in two-wire cables of other types such as cylindered enclosure.
